We can provide you with a written appraisal for insurance purposes. New appraisals start at $125, depending on the item.
The Appraisal Process
1. Take In: When you bring your jewelry that needs to be appraised we will review these items and discuss your understanding of the size of the diamonds or gemstones. If available, bring any supporting documentation for your item(s), such as any previous appraisal or receipt. The fee will be quoted and the time required to finish the appraisal.
2.Cleaning: Your jewelry will then be thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and examined.
3. Measurements: Your item(s) will be weighed and all gemstones will be measured to provide estimated dimensions and/or carat weights. Specific to the gemstone, the measurements taken provide us with an estimated weight. Your gemstones will not be removed at any time during the appraisal process.
4. Photographing: Your item(s) will be photographed using a digital lighting system. This allows us to have a digital record of the item. Several photos will be taken from a variety of angles to document the condition of the jewelry. The appraisal is generally printed with just one (1) photo, but the others will be maintained in our files and available to you in the event of loss or damage.
5. Valuation: An Estimated Replacement Value is given for insurance purposes. The value is determined by calculating the costs involved in reproduction or reconstruction of the item. Market Value for precious metals is calculated on a daily basis.
We estimate the value as listed for insurance or other purposes at the current retail value, excluding Federal and other taxes. In making the Appraisal, we DO NOT agree to purchase or replace the article(s).
